Agriculture is the major economic sector in Tanzania, employing over 80% of the population and contributing 27% to GDP. Therefore, economic development hinges on an improvement in agricultural productivity which, in turn, hinges on the use of productivity-enhancing inputs such as fertilizer.

The main food grains in Tanzania are maize, rice, millet, pulses, sorghum, maize, rice, and wheat. The installation of pilot project would help satisfy the demand for higher quality grains and improve the efficiency of the rural milling industry and the economy of this region.
